Samurai's Review Sony Playstation SS1

This so called 'Samurai Spirits Kenkyaku Shinan Pack' consist of
Samurai Shodown 1 and Samurai Shodown 2. Two of the SNK Classics
in one CD, sounds like it worth your money to buy it. Well,
personally I think it does worth it.
Samurai Shodown 1 play and look just like the arcade version. I
myself is also very surprised that a PS port can be this good. Good
thing it does not have any slow down. So, it play pretty much
the same as the arcade ver. I would say they cut out about 15% of the
characters' animation. But it still looks very smooth in animation.
As for the background, I somehow think that some stages actually
look better than the arcade version.(okay, you can hit my head).
The musics are different than the arcade version, because it is in
CD. And as you know, it does sound a lot better. Some of the
musics are so much different than the original ones. One of them
being the Nakoruru theme. As a matter of fact, they actually redone
the tune for the Nakoruru theme. And I like the PS ones better, it
sounds a lot better on the PS.
Okay, the only cons for this port is the loading time. It is about
12 seconds per fight, that is if you turn on the demo-cut option.(so that
you don't have to go thru more loadings, like those before match
maps and after win quotes and poses)
All in all, it is a very satisfying port. I would give it an 8.5 out
of 10.
